  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch or flour

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: If making your own pie crust, mix flour with salt and cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water to form a dough and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  3. Prep the Filling: Peel and core the apples, slicing them into thin wedges. In a mixing bowl, combine apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  4. Roll Out the Dough: Divide the chilled dough into two pieces. Roll one piece out to fit your pie pan, leaving an overhang.
  5. Fill the Pie: Pour the apple mixture into the crust, sprinkle cornstarch on top.
  6. Add the Top Crust: Roll out the second piece of dough, cover the filling, and cut slits for ventilation. Crimp the edges to seal.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C), then reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) for 30-45 minutes.
