Ingredients

  • Store-bought puff pastry or homemade dough
  • Good quality deli-cut ham
  • Cheddar cheese (or mozzarella/gouda)
  • Melted butter
  • Garlic powder, onion powder, or fresh herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by thawing puff pastry according to package instructions and rolling it out on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Cut the rolled dough into rectangles, approximately 4 inches wide.
  4. Place a slice of ham and a generous amount of cheese in the center of each rectangle.
  5. Fold the dough over and seal the edges with a fork.
  6. Brush the melted butter generously over each stick.
  7. Sprinkle any desired seasonings on top.
  8. Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Avoid overfilling the sticks to prevent leaks during baking. Use a tight seal when sealing the edges.
