Description
Delicious gluten-free scones made with almond flour, offering a nutty flavor and perfect for an afternoon tea or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups almond flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter or dairy-free alternative
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 egg or flaxseed meal (for vegan option)
- 1/2 cup milk or alternative milk
- Optional mix-ins: chocolate chips, dried fruits, herbs
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine almond flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the honey and egg, followed by the milk until just combined.
- If you’re adding any mix-ins, fold them in gently.
- Dust your work surface with almond flour and pat the dough into a rectangle, about one inch thick.
- Cut the dough into triangles or rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving, then enjoy plain or with a smear of jam.
Notes
Avoid overmixing the dough for tender scones. Keeping butter cold helps achieve flaky layers.
