Description

A rich and creamy pie with layers of chocolate, toasted coconut, and pecans that evoke comfort and nostalgia.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Graham cracker or pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup shredded toasted coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: If using a graham cracker crust, crush the crackers and mix them with softened butter and sugar, then press into a pie pan. Pre-bake the crust for about 10 minutes at 350°F.
  2. Make the Filling: In a saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa powder, and evaporated milk and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Stir constantly until thickened, then add butter and beaten eggs. After mixing well, remove from heat and cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the Topping: In a bowl, mix toasted coconut and chopped pecans with a bit of sugar and evaporated milk, then spread over the chocolate filling.
  4. Bake: Bake the pie for an additional 15-20 minutes at 350°F until the topping is golden brown and the filling is set.
  5. Cool and Serve: Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing to let the layers set.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for mixing. Toast coconut and pecans to enhance flavors.
