Description
A decadent pie combining rich chocolate filling with sweetened coconut and crunchy pecans, perfect for family gatherings and quiet evenings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 3 to 4 tablespoons ice water
- 4 oz German chocolate, chopped
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt before cutting in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until the dough forms. Roll it out and transfer to a pie dish. Prick the bottom and blind-bake for about 10 minutes until golden.
- In a saucepan, melt the German chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter, mixing until well combined. Stir in the melted chocolate, vanilla extract, coconut, and pecans.
- Pour the chocolate filling into the pre-baked crust and bake for another 30 to 35 minutes or until the center is set yet slightly jiggly.
- Let the pie cool for at least an hour before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or enjoy on its own.
Notes
For a nut-free option, replace pecans with sunflower seeds. Use real German chocolate for best flavor.
