Description

A decadent pie combining rich chocolate filling with sweetened coconut and crunchy pecans, perfect for family gatherings and quiet evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons ice water
  • 4 oz German chocolate, chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt before cutting in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until the dough forms. Roll it out and transfer to a pie dish. Prick the bottom and blind-bake for about 10 minutes until golden.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the German chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter, mixing until well combined. Stir in the melted chocolate, vanilla extract, coconut, and pecans.
  4. Pour the chocolate filling into the pre-baked crust and bake for another 30 to 35 minutes or until the center is set yet slightly jiggly.
  5. Let the pie cool for at least an hour before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or enjoy on its own.

Notes

For a nut-free option, replace pecans with sunflower seeds. Use real German chocolate for best flavor.
