Description
A delightful homemade pastry filled with sweet pears and creamy almond paste, perfect for family gatherings or special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet Puff Pastry
- 3–4 ripe Pears (Bosc or Anjou)
- 200g Almond Paste
- 50g Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Butter (for brushing)
- 1 Egg (for egg wash)
- Spices & Extracts (vanilla, cinnamon, or nutmeg to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Peel and slice pears into thin, even slices. In a mixing bowl, blend almond paste and sugar until smooth, adding butter if needed. Gently fold in sliced pears.
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick and place it on a lined baking sheet.
- Spoon almond and pear mixture onto the center of the rolled pastry, leaving a two-inch border.
- Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry and lay it over the filling, tucking the edges around to seal.
- Whisk an egg and brush the top for a golden finish.
- Cut a few slits on top for ventilation and to showcase the filling.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Use high-quality puff pastry and keep it cold while working to ensure it puffs up well. Avoid overloading the filling to maintain a good seal.
