Description
A delightful side dish featuring tender French green beans tossed with toasted almonds and garlic, offering a perfect balance of flavors and textures.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb French green beans (haricots verts), trimmed
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Fresh parsley or thyme, for garnish
Instructions
- Trim the ends of the French green beans.
- In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat and toast the slivered almonds until golden brown.
- Remove the almonds and set aside. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of butter, then toss in the green beans and minced garlic. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until beans are vibrant and tender.
- Add a splash of water if needed to create steam while cooking.
- Return the toasted almonds to the skillet, add lemon juice and fresh herbs, tossing gently.
- Serve immediately in a dish to enjoy with your meal.
Notes
To retain the beans’ crispness, avoid overcooking. Experiment with flavors by adding lemon zest or red pepper flakes for extra flair.
