- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 8 oz cream cheese (for frosting)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for frosting)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Mix well.
- Add pumpkin puree, melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1-1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt for the filling.
- Once risen, roll dough into a rectangle about ½ inch thick and spread the filling mixture over the surface.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log and cut into 12-15 even slices.
- Grease a baking dish and place the rolls inside. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While baking, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, splash of milk, and vanilla extract until smooth for the frosting.
- After baking, let the rolls cool slightly and generously spread the frosting on top.
Notes
For added crunch, consider mixing in chopped pecans or walnuts into the filling.
