Description

Delightfully soft pumpkin cinnamon rolls, perfect for autumn gatherings, filled with aromatic spices and topped with creamy frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Mix well.
  3. Add pumpkin puree, melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1-1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt for the filling.
  7. Once risen, roll dough into a rectangle about ½ inch thick and spread the filling mixture over the surface.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log and cut into 12-15 even slices.
  9. Grease a baking dish and place the rolls inside. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. While baking, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, splash of milk, and vanilla extract until smooth for the frosting.
  13. After baking, let the rolls cool slightly and generously spread the frosting on top.

Notes

For added crunch, consider mixing in chopped pecans or walnuts into the filling.
