Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup fresh oranges, zested and juiced
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your standard muffin tin with liners.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the fresh orange zest and juice.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour, mixing gently until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly into your prepared muffin tin, filling each liner about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Ensure your butter is softened for a creamy batter. Room temperature ingredients mix better.
