Description
Deliciously cheesy and spicy pretzel sticks, perfect for game day gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 2/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- ½ cup baking soda (for boiling)
- Additional melted butter for brushing
- Coarse salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, and spices. Gradually add warm water and melted butter, then mix until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour until it doubles in size.
- After the dough has risen, mix in shredded cheddar cheese and any additional spices for extra flavor.
- Divide the dough into equal pieces and roll them into long, thin sticks about 10 inches long.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, and stir in baking soda. Boil each pretzel stick for about 30 seconds, then place them on a lined baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with any remaining melted butter, sprinkle with salt, and additional spices if desired.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy warm!
Notes
For a healthier option, consider using whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour. Adjust the spice levels to suit your taste.
