Description

A delightful fig tart with a buttery, flaky crust and sweet figs, perfect for family gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Figs: 2 cups, sliced
  • Pastry Dough: 1 batch (store-bought or homemade)
  • Sugar: 1/4 cup (granulated or brown)
  • Lemon Juice and Zest: 1 tablespoon each
  • Honey or Maple Syrup: to taste
  • Fresh Thyme: 1 teaspoon, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, butter, and a pinch of salt until crumbly, then add ice-cold water until it holds together. Roll it out and fit it into a tart pan, crimping the edges, and chill for 30 minutes.
  3. While the dough chills, slice the figs and toss in a bowl with sugar, lemon juice, and thyme.
  4. Pour the fig mixture into the crust, arranging nicely.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the crust is golden and figs are bubbling.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For extra flavor, try adding a drizzle of honey or fresh herbs.
