Description
A comforting and versatile egg sandwich, perfect for breakfast or lunch, filled with flavor and memories.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large free-range eggs
- 2 slices of whole-grain or sourdough bread
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 slice sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs (chives or parsley, optional)
- Toppings (bacon, avocado, sautéed mushrooms, or sliced tomatoes, as desired)
Instructions
- Choose your bread: Start by selecting 2 slices of your chosen bread. Pre-toast them slightly in a toaster for extra crunch if desired.
- Heat the skillet: Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add about a tablespoon of butter.
- Fry the eggs: Crack two eggs into the skillet, keeping the yolks intact and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with a lid for firmer whites if desired.
- Add cheese: Once the eggs are nearly cooked, place a slice of cheese on top to melt slightly.
- Assemble your sandwich: Remove the eggs gently and place them on one slice of bread, adding any desired toppings. Finish with the second slice of bread.
- Finish and serve: Press the sandwich back into the skillet for a minute for extra crispiness. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Experiment with different toppings and cooking methods for a personalized twist. Avoid overcooking the eggs for the best texture.
