Description
A comforting and flavorful dish that combines tender pork chops with sweet, caramelized apples and a hint of cinnamon, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pork chops (bone-in or boneless)
- 2 firm apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prep the pork chops: Season with salt and pepper.
- Brown the chops: Sear in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side (optional).
- Layer the ingredients in the Crock Pot: Place pork chops at the bottom, then add apples, onions, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Pour broth over.
- Cook low and slow: Set the Crock Pot to low and cook for 6-7 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
- Serve: Enjoy warm, drizzled with cooking juices, alongside mashed potatoes or a salad.
Notes
For a twist, substitute chicken thighs for pork or use pears instead of apples. Vegetarian options like seitan or tofu can also be used with vegetable broth.
