Description
A comforting dish combining orzo, shrimp, and broccoli in a rich creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup orzo
- 1 pound peeled and deveined shrimp
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish
- Fresh lemon juice, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the Orzo: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the orzo and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
- Prepare the Broccoli: In the same skillet, add broccoli and cook for 3-4 minutes until bright green and crunchy.
- Make the Sauce: Lower heat, add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add cream, stirring to combine, then add Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt.
- Combine Everything: Return cooked orzo and shrimp to the skillet, toss to coat in the sauce. If too thick, add pasta cooking water.
- Final Touches: Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Substitute chicken or tofu for a different protein, and adjust herbs to your taste.
