Description
A comforting bowl of creamy pasta enveloped in rich mushroom goodness, perfect for chilly weeknights.
Ingredients
- Pasta (fettuccine, penne, or gluten-free)
- Mushrooms (cremini, shiitake, or button)
- Gruyere cheese (or mozzarella/aged cheddar)
- Fresh garlic (or shallots)
- Heavy cream (or half-and-half/plant-based cream)
- Chicken or vegetable broth
- Fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, or basil)
- Olive oil
- Butter
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente, reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain.
- Sauté the Mushrooms: Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute.
- Prepare the Sauce: Pour in broth and scrape up any browned bits. Add heavy cream and stir well.
- Add the Cheese: Gradually stir in shredded Gruyere cheese until melted. Add reserved pasta water if sauce is too thick.
- Combine: Toss in cooked pasta, ensuring every strand is coated. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs to taste.
- Serve: Plate the pasta and garnish with additional herbs or cheese. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
Use freshly grated cheese for the best melting result. Adjust seasoning to taste. Consider adding spinach or leftover chicken for extra nutrition.
