- 1 pound large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup fresh lump crab meat
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 cup seafood broth
- 1/3 cup flour
- 3 cups seafood broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Fresh thyme and parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add shrimp and cook until pink, then remove and set aside.
- Deglaze the pot with seafood broth, scraping up brown bits.
- Stir in flour to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually pour in seafood broth and heavy cream while whisking.
- Add herbs, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes to blend flavors.
- Fold back in shrimp and crab, warm through for 5 minutes.
- Add lemon juice; adjust seasoning as needed.
- Ladle into bowls, garnish with herbs, and serve warm.
Notes
For added luxury, drizzle with truffle oil before serving. Can substitute lobster for crab if desired.
