Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups Bread Cubes (day-old sourdough or French bread)
- 2 cups Fresh or Dried Cranberries
- 2 cups Chopped Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup Diced Celery
- 1 cup Finely Chopped Onion
- ½ cup Butter
- 2–3 cups Chicken or Vegetable Broth
- 2 tsp Fresh Thyme
- 1 tbsp Fresh Rosemary
- 1–2 Eggs (beaten)
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare the bread: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread into cubes and arrange on a baking sheet. Toast for 10–12 minutes.
- Sauté the aromatics: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and celery, sauté for 5-7 minutes.
- Mix in the fruits and herbs: Stir in apples and cranberries, thyme, and rosemary; cook for 3–5 minutes.
- Combine and season: In a large bowl, combine toasted bread cubes with sautéed mixture. Add broth gradually until moist; mix in eggs, salt, and pepper.
- Bake: Transfer to a greased baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy: Allow to cool before serving. Pairs well with roasted meats or as a vegetarian main dish.
Notes
Adjust the broth based on your desired moisture level. Ensure to not overstuff the baking dish to avoid uneven cooking.
