Description
A rich and creamy dip combining tangy cranberries with cream cheese, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup fresh or canned cranberries
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2–3 chopped green onions or chives
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Garlic powder or fresh garlic, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the cranberries: If using fresh cranberries, rinse them and simmer in a small saucepan with a little water and sugar until they burst (about 5-10 minutes). Set aside to cool.
- Mix the base: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and sour cream; blend until creamy.
- Incorporate the cranberries: Gently fold in the cooled cranberry mixture into the cream cheese mixture.
- Add flavor: Mix in chopped green onions or herbs, and season with salt and pepper. Taste to adjust seasoning.
- Chill: Refrigerate for a couple of hours to meld flavors.
- Serve: Scoop into a serving bowl, optionally topping with nuts, and serve with crackers and veggies.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider low-fat cream cheese or use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Experiment with herbs for added flavor.
