Description

Delicate macarons inspired by the beloved Christmas Tree Cake, featuring a buttery almond exterior and festive filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 3 egg whites
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar.
  2. Whip the egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually add granulated sugar and whip to stiff peaks.
  3. Fold in the dry ingredients gently to create a smooth batter.
  4. Add food coloring if desired and incorporate carefully.
  5. Pipe circles onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Rest the macarons at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 14-16 minutes, rotating halfway through.
  8. Prepare the filling by whipping butter, heavy cream, and flavor extracts until fluffy.
  9. Assemble the macarons by piping filling onto one shell and sandwiching with another.
  10. Decorate with edible glitter or melted white chocolate if desired.

Notes

Allow macarons to rest before baking to prevent cracked tops. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
