Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by gathering all ingredients and tools. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Chill dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Shape the dough into small balls, flatten slightly on the baking sheet, and decorate as desired.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool.
- Decorate with icing or sprinkles, or enjoy plain!
Notes
For vegan options, substitute a flax egg for the egg and use coconut oil instead of butter. You can also get creative with different frostings and sprinkles for decoration.
