Description

A delightful holiday treat combining crunchy crackers, buttery toffee, and rich chocolate, making it a cherished family tradition.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Saltine or Ritz crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lay out the salty crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring continuously until it boils. Let it boil for about 3-4 minutes until thick and bubbly.
  4. Carefully pour the hot toffee over the arranged crackers and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit until melted, then spread evenly.
  7. If using, sprinkle chopped nuts on top while the chocolate is still soft and press gently.
  8. Allow to cool completely, then break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

For an extra flavor layer, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top after spreading the chocolate.
