- Saltine or Ritz crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lay out the salty crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring continuously until it boils. Let it boil for about 3-4 minutes until thick and bubbly.
- Carefully pour the hot toffee over the arranged crackers and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit until melted, then spread evenly.
- If using, sprinkle chopped nuts on top while the chocolate is still soft and press gently.
- Allow to cool completely, then break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
Notes
For an extra flavor layer, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top after spreading the chocolate.
