- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Slowly whisk in the cocoa powder and salt until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined.
- Shape the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 60 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut out heart shapes.
- Place cookies on lined baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Allow to cool, then drizzle with melted chocolate or sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
- Enjoy with your favorite beverage or on their own!
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut oil for butter. For gluten-free, try almond or oat flour.
