Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary (to taste)
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and all-purpose flour in a large mixing bowl until they form a dough.
  3. Roll small amounts of dough into balls and place them on a greased baking sheet, making a thumbprint in each.
  4. Mix the cheddar, mozzarella, and garlic in a bowl, adding fresh herbs.
  5. Spoon the cheese mixture into the thumbprint holes of the dough balls.
  6. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Allow butter to soften before mixing for a flaky crust. Avoid opening the oven door while baking to maintain temperature.
