Description
A delightful twist on the traditional Tarte Tatin, featuring caramelized apples and buttery pastry, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought)
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. Toss them with cinnamon and set aside.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sprinkle in sugar and stir gently until a golden caramel forms.
- Layer the apple wedges in the caramel, arranging them tightly, and cook for about 10 minutes until softened.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to fit your skillet and place it over the apples, tucking the edges.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Allow it to cool slightly, then invert onto a serving plate.
Notes
Let the caramel set for a few minutes before serving to avoid a molten mess.
