Description

A comforting dish featuring tender beef strips seared in rich, nutty browned butter, complemented by fresh herbs and mushrooms.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, sliced against the grain
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms (shiitake or cremini), sliced
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme or rosemary, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips. Chop the garlic and herbs, and clean your mushrooms.
  2. Brown the Butter: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until golden brown, stirring gently.
  3. Sear the Beef: Add the beef in a single layer and sear for about 2-3 minutes per side until beautifully browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Mushrooms and Garlic: In the same skillet, add the garlic and mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms soften (about 5 minutes).
  5. Combine and Season: Return the beef to the skillet, mix with mushrooms and garlic. Add herbs, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir for another minute.
  6. Serve: Plate the beef fry over garlic mashed potatoes or steamed rice.

Notes

Ensure to let the beef come to room temperature before cooking for an even sear. Adjust seasoning throughout cooking.
