Description
A delightful shortbread cookie featuring the rich, nutty flavor of brown butter and chunks of dark chocolate, perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter
- 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chunks (60-70% cocoa)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- Brown the Butter: Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until it bubbles and turns a rich amber color.
- Mixing the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter and sugar, whisk until blended, then add salt and vanilla. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
- Chill the Dough: Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Shape and Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness. Cut into shapes and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake to Perfection: Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Ensure to watch the butter carefully while browning to avoid burning. Don’t skip the chilling step for a better texture.
