Delicious baked apple donuts that combine the warmth of spices and the sweetness of apples, topped with a luscious glaze.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and grated
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the donut pan.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar.
- Prepare the apples by peeling and finely chopping or grating them.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then mix in the milk and melted butter.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Gently fold in the prepared apples.
- Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the donuts spring back when lightly pressed.
- Allow the donuts to cool briefly, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk and dip the tops of the donuts in the glaze, setting aside to harden.
- Serve and enjoy with warm apple cider or coffee.
Notes
For added flavor, sprinkle extra cinnamon on top of the glaze.
