Description

A comforting and indulgent dish that captures the essence of a classic cheeseburger, combining crispy bacon, savory ground beef, and creamy cheese all in one skillet.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 strips thick-cut bacon, diced
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cremini mushrooms, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups beef or chicken broth
  • Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, fry diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon, leaving rendered fat in the pan.
  2. Add diced onions and cook until soft and translucent. Toss in minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground beef, breaking apart with a wooden spoon. Season with salt and pepper; cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Mix in diced mushrooms and cook until they release their juices. Stir in the rice.
  5. Pour in the broth, bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until rice is tender.
  6. Stir in crispy bacon and half of the shredded cheese until combined. Allow to melt through.
  7. Dish it out, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground beef with ground turkey and use cauliflower rice instead of regular rice. Adjust seasoning to taste during cooking.
