Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Fold in the chopped apples gently.
- Pour in the heavy cream, stirring until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently; pat into a circle about 1-inch thick.
- Cut the dough into wedges or use a round cutter and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Whisk maple syrup and powdered sugar for the glaze while the scones cool.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm scones and let it set before serving.
Notes
Use cold butter for a flaky texture. Avoid overworking the dough.
