Description

Delightful Apple Scones drizzled with a luscious maple glaze, perfect for cozy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup chopped apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in the chopped apples gently.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently; pat into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  7. Cut the dough into wedges or use a round cutter and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Whisk maple syrup and powdered sugar for the glaze while the scones cool.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the warm scones and let it set before serving.

Notes

Use cold butter for a flaky texture. Avoid overworking the dough.
