Description
A vibrant and aromatic dish that brings warmth and comfort with the bold flavors of garlic and turmeric.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup long-grain or jasmine rice
- 3 cloves fresh minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon turmeric (fresh or ground)
- 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 1 onion (optional, finely chopped)
- Fresh herbs (like cilantro or parsley) for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the rice in cold water to remove excess starch.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic (and onions if using) and sauté until fragrant and golden, about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the rinsed rice and allow it to absorb the flavors for about a minute.
- Add your broth and stir in the turmeric, then bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer for about 15-18 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat, let it stand covered for 5 minutes, then fluff gently with a fork. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
For best results, do not lift the lid during cooking to keep the steam trapped. Always taste the rice a couple of minutes before the cooking time is up to ensure perfect texture.
